Defining Accessibility…
We at the Books for All Foundation define accessible books as those that are presented in language which is clear, concise and for the broadest possible audience. These books incorporate specialized text arrangements and are available in a variety of electronic formats to provide multiple modes of accessibility. Distribution of text throughout each selection is controlled, with consideration given to the amount of information the learner is accessing at any one time. Illustrations, too, are controlled limiting elements in the visual field to only those that directly support comprehension of text and direct focus to main character elements.

Our Organization…
The Books for All Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing unique educational programs and resources that raise awareness about the need for published materials that are accessible to children with special needs. We believe that literacy for all children can be increased if a large number of truly independent titles are made available for children to practice the skills of reading. We are committed to creating and publishing accessible reading materials that support our purpose while encouraging young readers to pursue and enjoy independent reading. We are committed to providing well-written, richly illustrated books in a variety of accessible formats to meet the needs of children with varied disabilities.
Our Mission…
1. To provide well-written, richly illustrated books in a variety of accessible formats to meet the needs of children with varied disabilities.Population Served…
Recipients of our educational programs can include all groups and organizations interested in learning more about our unique platform on the importance of literacy and the need for accessible literacy materials. Recipients of our distribution programs can include all individuals with disabilities who may benefit educationally from our accessible book titles. In addition, we acknowledge low levels of literacy in all populations and will consider distribution of materials to any children that may benefit from literacy materials that are accessible and inclusive.
Donation Information…
Money raised by the Books for All Foundation is used, to the greatest extent possible, to give books, resource materials and educational information at no cost to children and their families. These children and families receive our books directly by members of the Books for All Foundation distribution team and through schools, libraries, organizations, and individuals who work directly with beginning, struggling, and special needs learners in the area of literacy. Our commitment is to offer education and customized literacy packages to schools, groups, and organizations that support our target population. These literacy packages can include our traditional book titles, ebooks, audio books and audio supported books, resource guides, interactive coloring books and integrated activity packages.
